n-Hexane is used as a solvent, paint thinner, and chemical reaction medium. It is used to extract edible oils from seeds and vegetables, as a special-use solvent, and as a cleaning agent.Hexanes are commonly used in chromatography as a non-polar solvent.

IF INHALED: Remove to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. IF exposed or concerned: Get medical advice/attention. Do NOT induce vomiting. If skin irritation occurs: Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. In case of fire: Store in a well-ventilated place. Keep container tightly closed.
